Over the past couple of years, students may have noticed that the vending machine has been out of order. A sign on the machine says “Go to Moe’s,” but why hasn’t it been fixed?
Vice Principal Shook gave me some insight into the situation. “I feel pretty good about it,” they said, explaining that Moe’s Corner helps prevent students from skipping class for snacks since Moe’s is only open during lunch. They also mentioned that it’s hard to get snacks during passing periods because students need time to use the restroom as well. The vending machine became difficult to maintain and frequently broke down, whereas Moe’s Corner is easier to manage and doesn’t require locking up.
Key Club originally ran the vending machine as a way to raise money. Later, students from the business program took over and ran the vending machine. Eventually, those students went on to open Moe’s Corner, which offers many of the same snacks and drinks the vending machine used to provide.

When asked whether students miss the vending machine. Vice Principal Shook said, “Yes, I think they do, some still come into my office asking for snacks.” They also said they are personally neutral about whether it could come back.
It doesn’t look like the vending machine will be returning anytime soon. For now, students looking for snacks, drinks, or both will have to visit Moe’s Corner, which has become the school’s new go-to option.
