Thursday, on Oct. 4, at the Dick Baker Stadium, was one of the junior varsity boys soccer games of the 2024 Fall season. At 4 p.m., the game started and in the first half of the game, Molalla took an early lead with one point against Gladstone. Just before halftime, Gladstone leveled out the score into a tie.
We–Symphony Mureen and Lucian Gongora from the Roamin’ Scroll–decided to interview the volunteers working in the concession stand to see how they felt about the game and our community. They both claimed that they liked the view from the stand. “It’s great for watching the games, being shady and not too scorched during the hot days,” one volunteer said. Overall, they like their job and find it calming.
Thank you, Gladstone community, for being kind to our volunteer workers.
During halftime, we interviewed the announcer, Mr. Lopez. We asked him questions like why he wanted to be an announcer. Lopez said that he loves being around to watch the students play and compete. He also enjoys being involved in school activities when he’s not teaching and wants to help as much as possible with school events in Gladstone.
After halftime, the game continued with Gladstone picking up two more goals, ending the game with a win for our l junior varsity boys soccer team. The final score was 3-1. Good job, Gladstone!
When the game ended, we decided to interview one of the players, asking him what would be the most challenging team to go up against. He stated that Crook County and the Dalles would be challenging teams to play against. We also asked why he plays the sport; he responded to our question that “soccer is fun and worth trying.”
Although the impasse of the tie had remained throughout most of the game, Gladstone brought home the win with a score of three against Molalla’s one!
